Avich and Kilchrenan thrive because of the people who give their time, ideas, and energy to community life. Whether organising events, maintaining local facilities, or preserving our heritage, our community groups are the heartbeat of our villages.

There are many ways to get involved, from formal organisations to informal groups focused on art, singing, and nature. Everyone is welcome; strong communities are built through participation.

The Avich and Kilchrenan Community Council is the grassroots statutory body representing residents in the rural settlements of Dalavich and Kilchrenan (near Taynuilt). It serves to voice local concerns, facilitate community action plans, and act as the official link between the community and Argyll and Bute Council.

Avich and Kilchrenan Community Heritables is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community through local development and heritage initiatives. The organisation’s mission is to protect and develop both historical and natural landmarks, ensuring they remain vibrant and beneficial for everyone in Dalavich, Inverinan and Kilchrenan. By restoring the cherished rural church buildings and grounds, AKCH aims to create spaces that serve as cultural and social hubs, fostering a strong sense of community and preserving our rich heritage for future generations.

The Dalavich Improvement Group exists to support and benefit the communities of Dalavich, Loch Avich and Inverinan. Their mission is to care for community land and shared assets in ways that improve local life for both residents and visitors. This includes helping provide and maintain recreational facilities, supporting community activities, encouraging rural regeneration, and strengthening community development. DIG also works to protect and enhance the local environment through conservation, sustainable development, and the improvement of local environmental amenities. This includes helping preserve natural spaces, as well as buildings and sites of architectural, historic, or community importance.

The Dalavich and Kilchrenan Fellowship Group is a local church fellowship serving the linked parishes of Kilchrenan, Dalavich, and Muckairn. The parish communities are supported by a broader, active network of local faith and fellowship events, alternating between the churches in Dalavich and Kilchrenan.

The Dalavich Social Club is a community run facility with a restaurant and bar along the shore of Loch Awe. It is open to the public and also available to be used for community and private events.

Kilchrenan Village Hall (KVH) is a community venue run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers and located in the heart of Kilchrenan. The hall is used all year round by both the community and visitors. It acts as a centre for many events and activities including sports, talks, social events, weddings, BBQs and much more!

Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, there are many ways to get involved. Attend a meeting, volunteer at an event, share your skills or simply come along and meet your neighbours.
